Church Cricket Tournament For Charity To Grace New York On August 20th
The inaugural edition of the Malayalee Ecumenical Church Cricket Championship (MECCC) will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Cunningham Park, NY. With the theme of bringing faith and sports together, MECCC is looking to raise money to benefit a local charity. MECCC officials has confirmed that all the proceeds from this tournament will be donated to Ronald McDonald House, Long Island.
A total of eight teams, representing eight different churches in New York and New Jersey will participate in this tournament and will be conducted in the Super 8s knockout format, with 8 overs per game, and 8 players per team.
The eight teams that will compete for the coveted MECCC trophy are St. Stephens Knanaya Church, Hempstead, St. Basil Orthodox Church, Franklin Square, Vincent De Paul Church, Elmont, St. Thomas Knanaya Church, Clifton, NJ, St. Gregorious Orthodox Church, Yonkers, St. Gregorious Orthodox Church, Elmont, St. Thomas Marthoma Church, Queens and United churches of New York. Tournament is sponsored by Mazhavil FM, R&T IT Solutions, TLJ Events and Floral Park Medical P.C.
The organizers of this tournament hope to make this tournament an annual event with more teams included next year.
