Atlantis Cricket Club: NY held its 56th Annual General Meeting (AGM) and elections for club officers last Sunday via ZOOM. Colin Sandy was elected President for a second term unopposed.
The AGM was well attended and saw Sandy, along with several incumbent members of the Executive Board, return unopposed for the new electoral cycle 2022-2024. The new Board will see a few new faces and a switch in the captaincy and vice-captaincy roles for the 2022 and 2023 cricket seasons.
Those elected and appointed to the Board for 2022-2024 were –
President: Colin Sandy – Reelected unopposed.
Executive Vice President: Phillip Thompson – Reelected unopposed.
Vice President: Hugo D’Oliviera – Reelected unopposed.
Secretary: Keith Holder – Elected unopposed and returning to the Board after a five-year hiatus.
Treasurer: Sumantro Das – Elected unopposed, confirming his acting appointment to that position following the death of long-time Atlantis Treasurer Keith Aaron last year.
Assistant Secretary-Treasurer: Antonio Handy – Elected unopposed. Handy is a newcomer to the Board.
Manager: John Aaron – Reelected unopposed.
Trustee: Dr. Glendon Archer – Reelected unopposed.
Cricket Captain: Gregory Robinson – Elected unopposed.
Cricket Vice Captain: Randall Wilson. Wilson’s appointment was by acclamation.
Liaison Officer: Steve Welcome. Welcome’s appointment was by acclamation. Steve replaces Leslie “Tulu” Lewis, Atlantis’ long-standing Liaison Officer who passed away last year.
Veteran Atlantis member H. Carlyle Miller, an Honorary Life Member of the club served as Returning Officer for the elections exercise.
Atlantis will participate in the Metropolitan New York District Cricket Association league in the 2022 season, following an anticipated tour to Florida in April.
Returning President Colin Sandy thanked the members for the confidence expressed by reelecting him. He urged the members to work with him in making Atlantis an even stronger organization on and off the field. The incoming Board Members pledged their commitment to supporting the President and his vision for the organization.
