Commonwealth Cricket League
By Richie Gayadeen
Once again Combined Warriors destroy another team in the Commonwealth Cricket League T20 tournament. Warriors clearly showed why there are considered the cream of the crop in this T20 tournament, scoring 208 in allotted over and bowling out Pak United for a mere 69 in 13 over.
Pak United won toss and asked Combined Warriors to take first strike. Skipper Andy Shivraj and Tyrone Wayne walk to the center on a beautiful Sunday Sept. 14th 2014 at Van Cortland park to bat. Pak United seem they made the correct decision by asking Warriors to take first strike, when T. Wayne (11) lost his middle stump followed by Jones (00) who failed to score in 4th over off the bowling of Robert. With the score 24-2 skipper Andy and Jay Persaud kept to the task, scoring 1s and 2s every ball and put away the loose ball. The pair contributed 74 runs partnership before Jay (23) lost his wicket to Rayub. With some quick strike by Pak United had Warriors 131 for 6 in 14 over and in total control.
Richie Gayadeen joined skipper Andy and took the attack to Pak United bowlers. Richie made a blazing 36 from 13 balls and Andy finish up his classy inning with 81 runs. Warriors’ final score was 208 for 9. Pak United main wicket taker was Ali who picked up 3 wickets, Robert and Rayub 2 wickets each.
At the start of the second half, Warriors bowlers never let Pak United batsmen settle down at the crease. Warriors’ bowling was led by Juanoy Drysdale who kept to task and strikes almost every over with a wicket. The only batsmen to score in double digit against Warriors were Ali (10) and Jimmy (14). Warriors’ Juanoy Drysdale bowled with pace and accuracy, he had Paki United batsmen fishing throughout his spell. He was accounted for 4 wickets, skipper Andy and Coleman picked up 2 wickets each.
