Deane First Centurion For 2010 Against Carriacou

Playing at Marine Park A off Avenue S in Brooklyn, on May 16th Diplomats opened the 2010 Brooklyn League Season in grand fashion with a 118 run victory over Carriacou. Diplomats won the toss and took first strike after the match had been reduced to 35 overs. Opening the with Romeno Deane and Francis Mendonca Diplomats keep the scoreboard ticking before Mendonca was adjudged Leg before to for 5.
Selwyn Ramphal joined Deane and the pair took their team past the half century mark taking the score to 92 for 1 off 14 at the water break, with Deane on 42 and Ramphal on 32. Deane continued his onslaught of boundaries as he got to fifty. Deane showed no mercy for the Carriacou attack as he played lofted drives and hooks to various parts of the park. Ramphal played it patient but he got to fifty playing some exquisite shots with cuts and square drives being his signature shots.
Deane got to the first century of the Brooklyn Cricket League but he was undone by a run out leaving him on 113. This initiated the middle order slide Andre Kirton bowled without scoring, Ramphal Leg before for a 70 and Freeman caught behind for 7.
Dyon Ravello was joined Tegana McKenzie and they stemmed the wicket slide, a task which has been replicated by Ravello many times last season. Both batsmen rotated the strike with end of the innings vigor. Diplomats closed on 261 for 7 off 35 over with Ravello not out on 31.
In reply Carriacou could only muster 143 all out. R. Lewis retired for 21 after opening the batting. K. Matthews contributed 28 after he had skied Mendonca to mid on, only to be let off the hook by Ravello. Matthews was forced to retire hurt after his thumb was burst by Joel Clarke. Matthews eventually return to complete his innings leg before to Andre Kirton. Ravello did redeem himself with a stunning catch of Kirton running from long on to long off to dismiss V. Chance for 1. A Mitchell played a cameo of 28 before he was caught by Ramphal of Mendonca.
That was all that Carriacou could muster. Gavin Smith was the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 15 of 5.3 overs, Kirton had 3 for 18 of his 5 overs, Mendonca 2 for 37 off 7 overs and Clarke 1 for 18 off 5 overs. Deane’s hundred was deservedly a man of the match performance. Diplomats will be looking to continue their lively momentum this weekend when they face Warriors at Marine Park C on Sunday 23rd May from 1:30pm.
Middlesex Register Second Win
On Sunday 05/16 match played at Marine Park C, it was Imperial cricket club last year Brooklyn Cricket League champions VS Middlesex cricket club.

Middlesex won the toss and ask the opposition to take first strike. Imperial 232 all out from 39.2 overs.
Barbadian Orient Bostic made a well compile innings of 80, which included 12 fours, Jason Cunningham with a lusty 34 and the veteran, a former St.Vincent player 26.
Bowling for Middlesex, former USA under 19 speedster Dominic Audain picket up 4 for 44 from 8 overs, Jacob Emmanuel picked up 2 for 2 from one over, and former St.Vincent youth player Skipper Mark Audain 2 for 35 from 8 overs.
When Middlesex batted former Windward islands batsman Joey Pierre topped score with a magnificent 68, which included 7 fours, Lester Benn with a patient and well played 55, which included 6 fours, Skipper Mark Audain with a classy 43 at the top of the innings, which included 6 fours, and a magnificent 6, which came from a hook shot off fast bowler Orient Bostic which went out of the ground.
Rod Michael the finisher with a responsible 11 Not Out, took Middlesex to their second consecutive victory in the 2010 Brooklyn cricket league. Bowling for imperial Andy Douglas picked up 3 for 40 from 7 overs, Kester Sylvester 2 for 52 from 8 overs, Orient Bostic 1 for 30 from 6 overs and Byron Mars 1 for 42 from 8 overs.
Shaheen Defeats Queensbury
On saturday 05-15-2010, Shaheen vs Queensbury cricket club at Marine Park C, Shaheen batted first and scored 201 all out from 30 overs, Zazien 32, Mustafa 27, Omar 22.
Bowling for Queensbury Noris Duncan 3 for 25 from 6 overs, Kiran Cuffy 3 for 25 from 6 overs, Iva Martin 2 for 30 from 7 overs.
Queensbury 171 all out, Joseph Short 45, Ivan Martin 24 were the principal scorers.
Bowling for Shaheen, Owasis Butt 3 for 24 from 6 overs, Nadeen 2 for 11 from 6 overs, Mustafa 2 for 22 from 5 overs. Shaheen winning the match by 32 runs.
