MCL Challenge Cup Playoffs
The stage is set for the semi finals of the Metropolitan Cricket League 35 overs Challenge Cup competition with the four familiar faces fighting feverishly to get their hands on ‘forbidden’ territory – the Roy Sweeney Trophy.
In the Western Confidence Cosmos and Villagers will battle at Floyd Bennett field. Cosmos after impressive performances in both the Round Ribbon and Challenge Cup will be looking to claim a spot in the final for their 3rd title. While Villagers, with a formidable outfit, will be hoping to redeem themselves to secure their spot in the final and hopefully get their first feel of the hardware. That after they sat comfortably at the top of the points table in the Round ribbon competition and then suffered the disappointment in the semi final.
In the Eastern Conference Westbury, the 2012 Round Ribbon champions Westbury will meet Progressive at Canarsie. Both Westbury and Progressive have had a taste of victory in this competition. However, Westbury will enter this match with tinge of confidence since they had defeated Progressive a few weeks ago in the Round ribbon final, While Progressive will be looking to remind Westbury that this is a different day.
It will be a most interesting weekend of cricket as the 2012 season approach the last few weeks. All games start at 11am.
