Sunrise Team Efforts Win Over Wave
By Morris Seecharan
In an important game which solidified Sunrise wining momentum Waves batting first did not fare well against Sunrise bowlers. Kalif Salim Sunrise opening bowler in the second ball of his 1st over had Imran Alli caught for 4, and in the second ball of his 2nd over had Brian caught for 0, and Wave was 2 for 15 in the 3rd over. Gassa and D. Samaroo pulled together to repair the damages and were very effective.
However in the 11th over Shane Manbodh in his 1st over he struck having Samaroo caught for 21 and removed S. Alli for duck with the score 57 for 4. Ricky Deenu in his 3rd over had Gassa caught for 22, and his 4th over picked up 2 maiden wickets having Bissesar bowled for 2, and R. Rishideo bowled for a duck with the score 72 for 7 in the 14th over.
Ricky penetrating bowling was the key in toppling Waves batting. T. Narine showed some resistance made 22 was caught off the bowling of Harold Deokinanan while the rest of Waves batsmen became victim of Sunrise bowlers. In addition the Sunrise fielders’ superb efforts in holding onto six important catches complimented their brilliant bowling. In particular, Mohamed Hussain taking several catches behind the stumps helped build the pressure which paved the way for the collapse of Wave batting as they were bowled out in 18.2 overs for 99.
Ricky Deenu came up big for Sunrise with the bowling figure of 5-2-17-3, and Harold Deokinanan was deadly bowled for 1.2-0-7-2. Shane Manbodh took part in the bowling fest bowled for 3-0-21-2 while Kalif Salim went for 5-0-27-2.
Sunrise opening pair Roopnarine Dayal, and Masood Salim wasted no time in reply as they slammed Samaroo of Waves for 15 runs to start. A. Lilkumar faced the same faith in his 1st over as he was tagged for 10 runs and Sunrise opening pair looked poised. Masood was caught for 20 with the score at 36 in the 5th over. Dayal who looked confident and settled was joined by Seeram Persaud, and they both worked together flawlessly toward the required total.
They batted well and articulated a 42 runs partnership as Seeram was caught for 20 with the score 78 for 2 in the 10th over. Dayal batted very stubbornly hanged around as Sunrise lost Deryck Basdeo and Selwyn Cheong quickly with the score at 80, and 81. Dayal, who lead the batting offensive was joined by Harold Deokinanan, who smashed a 4 to tie the game. Dayal would make the final single to win the game as Sunrise in 13.3 was 100 for 4. Dayal batted sensibly made 33 not out had an important knock for his team.
B. Hiralall led Waves bowling went for 2-0-6-2 while T. Narine bowled for 3-0-24-1
