Richmond Hill Cricket Club (RHCC) completed A comfortable seven-wicket victory over Enmore Cricket Club (ECC) last Sunday at the gorgeous  Bay Park on Long Island, NY and in the process remained unbeaten.

Debo Sankar during his knock of 64.

Debo Sankar led the chase from the front with a stylish unbeaten 64, he, in company with Wahid Ward set the course for victory with a second-wicket partnership of 92 from 114 balls—after Enmore Cricket Club (ECC) posted a modest 128 all out in 27.4 overs.

Without their star batsmen Safraz Ali, Saeed Mohamed and veteran swing bowler Jerry Persaud. Enmore appeared somewhat degenerated and opted to bat first, having won the toss, they were hoping to put up a challenging total, however, that was much easier said than done as only the top order were able to show some resilience, among the runs were Asif Chan and Kumar Dindial with 18 each, who provided the early momentum—both dismissed by Deryck McDonald. And with the scorecard at 40 for 3.

Lawrence Shoy (28) and Hugo D’oliveria (32) then consolidated the innings with a 4th wicket partnership of 45, Shoy, who had an early let-off was beginning to look baleful before he succumbed to Bactowar—including the rest as they crumbled to spin, their final total–128 all out in 27.4 overs. Among the wickets for RHCC were McDonald, Nandalall and Shameer with two each while Dhaniram and Bactowar scalped one apiece. Enmore wickets fell at: 38, 39, 40, 85, 97, 99, 105, 123, 127 and 128.

As you would expect with such an asking run-rate in pursuit of 128, Debo Sankar (64 N.O) and Wahid Ward (38) eased towards a second-wicket stand of 92–after the early dismissal of Tyrell in the 3rd over without scoring. Setting the course towards victory. Debo, watchful and fluent at times—reached his second half-century of the young season with a crisp square-cut to the ropes.

Jason Thomas had two of the three wickets that fell for Richmond Hill.

However, the game took a lively moment as left-arm orthodox spinner Jason Thomas took the ball—with the small crowd behind him and with a further 27 required, he induced Ward to step out, even before the ball left his hand—attempting a hoist over long-on, but only succeeded in lobbing the ball straight to Dindial. He then accounted for Pradip Rooopchand for six, but was unfortunate not to have the prize wicket of Debo as the cover fielder spilled a babysitter. Dhaniram joined Debo and the pair then saw RHCC home without any further interruptions. Among the wickets for Enmore was Thomas who grabbed two victims while Montana had one. RHCC wickets fell at: 8, 101, and 122.
