It was a make up game for round 10 that was originally schedule for July 17th.
Atlantis was hoping going into this game they will hold their number 2 spot on the points table of the EACA 40 overs competition. Playing on Saturday and Sunday back to back wasn’t something that the MMZ boys wanted to do because of the numerous players who are fasting, however to adhere with the EACA decision to play the game they showed up at the park with some key players missing.
Atlantis won the toss and decided to bat first. They started off very positive with Blades and Greaves at the crease. First to go was Greaves bowled by Robin Das for 15 then Blades was run out for 16 .Nicholas Stanford was brilliantly caught by Ajaz Asgarally at first slip for a duck off Das. Amsterdam played some fine shots for a well played 41 before he was caught by wkp Hamilton off Bilal.
The MMZ bowlers bowled a good line and maintain good control through out the Atlantis innings. Atlantis was eventually bowled out for 187 off 38 overs. Bowling for MMZ, Zaaid Majeed 2 for 11 off 8 overs, Trevis Ross 3 for 21 off 6 overs, Robin Das 2 for 20, Azurdeen Mohammed 1 for 18 off 7 overs. D. Baksh 1 for 18 and Bilal 1 for 34.
MMZ started off very positive with Azurdeen Mohammed and the young wicket keeper batsman Clifford Hamillton opening the batting. They pair put on 50 in 9 overs. Mohammed was first to go for 21, this brings the experienced and reliable Deonauth Baksh to the crease, Baksh played some fine shots hitting some lovely boundaries all around the park to see MMZ meet their required target of 188 with 2 overs to spare losing 4 wkts, Baksh was left not out on 74. Cliford Hamilton made 32 and Robin Das 28 were the main contributors.
