The New York Metropolitan Cricket League held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday, February 26, 2022, as an in-person meeting. The AGM was presented simultaneously on the ZOOM platform. It was the league’s first in-person meeting of its general membership since the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.
The 132-year-old cricket organization conducted the election of officers for the upcoming two-year cycle with just one change in the incumbent Board. John Aaron (Atlantis Cricket Club-NY) replaces Jerry Bowen (Islandwide Cricket Club) as the league’s Public Relations Officer. All the other officers retained their positions on the Board under Dervon “Dunga” Wallace, who returns as President of the Metro League for his second stint. Jerry Bowen challenged Dervon Wallace with an animated presentation for the leadership position; however, Wallace prevailed convincingly.
The 2022-2024 Board is Dervon Wallace – President, Orval Crawford – Vice President, Venelda Wallace – Corresponding Secretary (no relation to Dervon Wallace), Mikhail Miller – Recording Secretary, Barrington Bartley – Treasurer, John Aaron – Public Relations Officer, and Akeem Dodson – Marketing Officer.
The newly elected Board will meet shortly to map out its 2022 season. The league has a Cricket Bus Ride & Shopping Trip to Virginia planned for April 29-May 1. During the two-day excursion a Metropolitan Cricket League All-Stars XI will clash with a Virginia Cricket Club XI on Saturday, April 30, and Sunday, May 1. The bus transportation and hotel stay costs are included $500 – Double-Occupancy and $350 – Single-Occupancy.
