Dhingra, Kolan, and Vaghela Secure Win For USA Women’s Team

In a thrilling encounter at Woodley Cricket Field on Sept. 4th, the United States of America Women’s cricket team emerged victorious by a commanding margin of 79 runs against Argentina Women in the ICC 2023 Women’s T20 World Cup Americas Qualifier.

The United States of America Women won the toss and elected to bat first. Disha Dhingra led the charge for her team, playing a brilliant knock of 63 not out off 52 balls, which included 4 boundaries, guiding her side to a total of 132 runs for the loss of just one wicket in their allotted 20 overs. Anika Kolan provided crucial support with an unbeaten 54 off 57 deliveries.

Mariana Martinez was the standout bowler for Argentina, taking the only wicket for 23 runs in her 4-over spell. The Argentine bowling attack, led by Constanza Sosa, Mariana Martinez, Alison Stocks, and others, kept the pressure on the United States’ batters.

Argentina faced a challenging target of 133 runs and struggled to find momentum throughout their innings. The United States’ bowlers, led by Isani Vaghela, wreaked havoc as she claimed 4 wickets for just 7 runs in her 4-over spell. Argentina’s innings crumbled, with several batsmen failing to make an impact, and they were eventually bowled out for just 53 runs in 17.3 overs.

Disha Dhingra and Anika Kolan’s excellent partnership set a formidable target for Argentina, putting the United States in a strong position. Isani Vaghela’s remarkable bowling performance turned the tide firmly in favor of the United States, dismantling Argentina’s batting lineup. Argentina struggled to build partnerships and lost wickets at regular intervals, unable to cope with the relentless pressure applied by the United States’ bowlers.

Isani Vaghela was named the Player of the Match for her exceptional bowling performance, which played a pivotal role in securing the victory for the United States of America Women’s team.
