York College and Auburn University played a thriller but York College manage to come out as the victorious team.
Match was delayed due to a rain storm. D/L method came into the play again. Match was shortened to 10 overs. Auburn won the toss and sent in the York batsmen on a damp pitch. They lost opener Kashif Choudhary cheaply in very first over but that didn’t stop Akeem Dodson from playing aggressive shots.
Dodson was hitting the ball all around the park as other batsmen struggle at the pitch. Karan Ganesh and Akeem Dodson built on a good sensible partnership while maintaining a healthy run rate.
After the partnership was broken as Karan Ganesh was bowled of a very good yorker from Patel. Next batsmen walked in was Shams Rehman who didn’t waste any time and took the bowling apart from ball one. After their limited 10 overs York College scored 89/3. Akeem Dodson remained not out on 48*, Karan Ganesh and Shams Rehman scored 16 each.
In reply Auburn got off to a good start scoring 40 runs in first 4 overs without losing any wicket. Sikander Hayat provided the much needed break through which allowed York College to stay in the game.
Soon after Mohammad Suleman got rid of in form Ratin Parsad. Mohammad Suleman was called back to bowl the 8th over which only went for 3 overs Leaving Auburn to get 25 runs of 2 overs. The 9th over proved to be very productive for Auburn leaving them to get only 9 runs of the last over.
The final over was bowled by speedster Bilal Shahid, who bowled immaculately. He bowled 6 perfect in swinging yorkers showing good pace and high accuracy by only giving one run and picking up a wicket as well in a very tense situation.
York College has now won both of their games and looking to qualify for the quarter final which will be played on Saturday.
