Last Sunday at Bay Park the Everest/ACS cricket club continue to dominate Zone 1 of the Power40 Competition in the Eastern American Cricket Association with a hard fought victory over Richmond Hill cricket club.
Winning the toss and electing to bat first, they would put together a total of 189 for 6 off 40 overs. Their main contributors were Tamesh ‘Cambio’ Balwant with a gritty and dogged 49 (1×4-1×6).
Zamin Amin a well compose 46 not out (2×4-2×6) towards the end of the innings, which included 19 off the final over bowled by D. Seepersaud, Shafeek Shaw 22, Steve Nowrangilall 17.
Bowling for Richmond Hill former Guyana national youth player Shameer Sadloo, in his first outing of the season was impressive with the ball (8-1-19-3) Another former national youth players Ramphal Bactowar (7-1-16-0) bowl a tidy spell along with Deryck McDonald (8-0-40-2), followed by Zaheer Sadloo (8-0-29-0) and Wahid Ward (8-1-39-1).
Richmond Hill cricket club needing 4.5 runs per over for victory opened their innings with the Sankar brothers facing the veteran bowlers, the tall lanky Trevor Walke and Shaheed Amin. The pair that is responsible for many victories and championship.
However the Sankar brothers would negotiate them cautiously with singles and occasional boundary struck by inform Debo Sankar including two huge sixes off Trevor Walke, Royo Sankar would later depart for 10. Wahid Ward join Debo Sankar and the pair continue with the required rate, but two crucial run outs would change course giving Everest/ACS the advantage, the first which involved Debo Sankar (47) and Wazid Ward whom depart for 17 and the second between Shameer Sadloo (17) and Deryck McDonald (21).
The Sadloo brothers try to stage a recovery but the veterans of Everest/ACS prove to be too much with their consistence bowling and fielding as the run rate climb to 8 an over. With the departure of both Sadloo brothers and wickets falling regularly the game came to a stage with Richmond Hill needing 24 off the final over which proved to be too much for young Puran and Seepersaud.
It was an intriguing day of great cricket with Both teams exchanging greeting at the End.
Richmond Hill cricket club continue the battle this week against Atlantis cricket club at the Cage.
