Meten-Meer-Zorg Defeats Liberty Cricket
Meten-Meer-Zorg defeated Liberty Cricket by 45 runs in their first round T/20 competition Sunday at Riis Park in Brooklyn.
MMZ won the toss and decided to bat first in bright sunshine, with Skipper Azurdeen Mohammed and Kieth Mungalsingh opening the batting. Singh was out in the second over for 5 runs with the score on 20, Mohammed was joined by Deonauth Baksh and the pair added 65 for the second wicket with Mohammed scoring 46 from 30 deliveries with 7 fours and 1 six. With some excellent hitting late in the order by PSAL players Rayhanul Islam 21, Imdad Khan 15 and Rocky Kowchai 12 help their team to 157 for 8 wkts off their allotted 20 overs.
Liberty Cricket got off to a flyer with L. Lawrence smashing the ball to all part of the field hitting sixes and fours at will, with the score card reading 85 for 1 in 8 overs, captain Azurdeen Mohammed made the bowling change that would do the trick by bringing on the experience Zaaid Majeed to bowl, he produce an excellent delivery that see the stumps of the hard hitting Lawerence cart wheeling. Lawerence made 64 with 3 fours and 6 sixes. It was downhill after that for the Liberty Cricket, they were eventually bowled out for 105 in 16.1 overs.
