LIUCC Humiliated East Side Warriors
The visitors were dismissed for 115 in 28 overs after winning the toss and batting with pace man Ishtiaq Gul 2/30, Anwar Khan 2/22 and Omer Iqbal 2/21 doing the damage.
Long Island United Cricket Club reached the target of 116/4 in 28.1 with Sajid Khan hammering 44, Asim Khan 27 and Omer Iqbal 22 (not out).
LIUCC lost first wicket for just 2 runs on the board in the 2nd over of the inning. But Sajid Khan and Asim Mehmood (ct) put on an outstanding 70 runs second wicket partnership before Omer Iqbal came and guided the side home comfortably.
ESW openers Ali Alvi and Usman Rafique struggled to score freely as Anwar and Omer bowled with a hostile pace and swung the ball viciously. Ali Alvi tried to break free in the 6th over but was caught at short extra cover for 5.
The second wicket partnership somewhat steadied ESW innings but the introduction of Ishtiaq Gul sparked the collapse as he got Saud Alvi caught behind with a peach of a delivery. In his next over ESW lost three wickets, two exceptional run outs produced by Waqas (wk) and brilliant catch at short mid-on by Sajid khan to get rid of Sabi Rafique for 2.
ESW soon slumped to 66-6 in 17 overs before the tail Enders put some effort and took the score to 115, which was not enough in the end.
