Following the successful promotion at World Cricket League Division 4 in Los Angeles, early this month, two integral players of the USA national team have been awarded placements in Sri Lanka.
Chicago resident, Fahad Babar and New Jersey native, Jessy Singh, travel to Sri Lanka this month to compete in their 3-Day Domestic First-Class Tournament between November 2016 and January 2017.
USA Head Coach, Pubudu Dassanayake, a former Sri Lankan international was integral in forming this partnership which will undoubtedly provide Babar and Singh great experience.
“Fahad and Jessy are both very talented young players in the USA squad and I hope this opportunity to compete in a Full Member first-class domestic structure will only further their development” Dassanayake said.
ICC Americas Cricket Manager, Tom Evans, is excited about the opportunity:
“It’s great that Pubudu’s relationships in Sri Lanka have helped to create an opportunity for USA players to get some First-Class cricket experience. Hopefully this placement program is something that can be expanded on in the future and become an important development tool for promising cricketers in the USA.
Fahad and Jessy are both young players with a bright future ahead of them and I wish them the best of luck over the coming months”.
