It was a warm and sunny day in Winnipeg when Canada won the toss and elected to bat in game 5 of the ICC Americas U15 Northern Division Championship.
Canada lost an early wicket with only 5 runs on the board but a fighting second wicket partnership of 70 between Kurt Ramdath and Bradley Dickson held the first half of the innings together. Ramdath scored 43 runs and Dickson contributed 25 before he had an unfortunate run out. Canada managed to reach 181 in 40 overs which were mainly due to solid knocks from Prushoth Senathirajah with 33 and Abraash Khan with 30. Miraj Patel chipped in with 17 runs.
In reply, the US started strongly with an opening partnership of 49 runs for the first wicket. Karanjit Singh scored 21 runs and Jason Gobin 28. The Americans then lost three quick wickets for 14 runs before Vibhav Altekar scored a fighting 48 to steer the Americans from disaster. The middle of the batting line up eventually fell apart as the US was bowled out for 156 runs. Dave Parikh with 17 runs offered some resistance. Gayan Ferdinands was the main wrecker with 5 wickets for 36 runs. Kurt Ramdath helped out with 2 for 25.
