When the opening ceremony for the Seventh Annual T20 US Open Cricket Tournament kicks off at the Central Broward Regional Park in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on December 3, several South Florida public officials will be in attendance.
The list includes: Commissioners Dale Holness, Beverly Williams, Yvette Colbourne and Margaret Bates. Also in attendance will be Broward County Mayor Martin David Kuir and Mayor Jack Brady of North Lauderdale.
Parks and Recreation will be represented by Executive Director Dan West and Superintendent Gayle Preston. Franklin Johnson, staff assistant for Congressman Alcee Hastings and Lea Padron for Senator Marco Rubio’s office along with Sheriff Scott Israel of Broward County will also be at the park for the opening ceremonies.
The Piney Grove Boys Academy and the Parkway Middle School choir will also be there. The tournament will be played over four days, and with 32 teams vying for the top prize of $50,000., the competition is expected to be fierce. Last year’s champions, US Tigers have pledged to be very tough competitors, and with names such as Sri Lanka’s Sanath Jayasuriya, West Indies Samuel Badree, along with USA National players, Steve Massiah, Muhammad Ghous, Akeem Dodson and Alex Amsterdam in the line-up, fans and spectators alike will be in for a treat.
