Future Stars School of Cricket Joins MYCA
The Maryland Youth Cricket Association (MYCA) is pleased to announce that the Future Stars School of Cricket USA (FSSC) will be joining the statewide 15U competition in 2017. This competition started as a tennis-ball program, but after four successful seasons, the 15U version will graduate to leather ball cricket starting next spring, continuing the development of youth cricket in Maryland.
FSSC is an independent and privately owned youth cricket training program in the Washington D.C. metro region. FSSC was founded in 2013 by Milroy Don, an experienced cricketer and committed coach with Cricket Australia ICC Level 2 coaching certification.
The vision of FSSC is to “make strong contribution to the development and growth of cricket in the U.S. by developing a strong youth cricket program that will generate future stars of USA cricket.”
FSSC training program is catered for both youth cricketers who are just learning the game as well as for the intermediate and advanced players who need guidance to reach the next level.
The training conducted regularly (twice or thrice a week) both outdoors and indoors focuses on individual and team skills/techniques on all aspects of the game, fitness, discipline and overall well-being of youth trainees.
Under Coach Milroy and an assistant coach, FSSC players (with ages ranging from 7-15 years and an average age of 10 years) have been playing and performing strongly in several youth tournaments across the country in the last two years. National Youth Cricket League (NYCL), CricMax’s American Youth Premier League (AYPL), Philadelphia International Cricket Festival youth tournament are among those that FSSC kids regularly get invited to participate in. FSSC youth also represent Washington Cricket League (WCL) youth team in the NJ-based NATA cricket league and MYCA cricket tournaments.
“We are delighted to add another strong Maryland program to our ranks,” said President Jamie Harrison. “Milroy has done a fantastic job with FSSC, and his team will definitely be top competitors for the state championship next June.”
In addition to the 15U hardball competition, MYCA also conducts a statewide 11U tennis ball competition.
