In Metropolitan Cricket League forty-over semi finals between Westbury and Villagers played Sunday last at West High School George Adams of Villagers produced an inspired spell of hostile fast bowling (8 overs 1 maiden 6 wickets 30 runs) reducing the home side.
Westbury to 80 all out in 21 overs; but for the last wicket partnership of 30 runs (Lewis and Porter) there was little resistance.
Tailsman Gordon supported with 8 overs 1 maiden 2 wickets 32 runs; Lewis 21 and Baugh 19 were the high scorers for Westbury.
In reply Villagers 81 for 2 in 15 overs, Donald Bennett 32 and Melroy Kingston 22 not out top scored for the visitors.
In the second semi finals at Seaview in Brooklyn, defending Champions Progressive (262 for eight) defeated River Valley (226 all out).
Villagers and Progressive meet this Sunday (July 31, 2001) in the much anticipated finals at Floyd Bennett Field.
