Guyana Falls to Boston Gymkhana “B” Despite Ramlochan’s Five-Fer

Oditnarine Ramlochan produced a magnificent spell of spin bowling to pick up his first five-wicket haul for the season, but couldn’t salvage a win for his team in a low scoring thriller.
On Saturday, August 1st at Franklin Field in Boston. The Boston Gymkhana “B” team won the toss and elected to take first strike. They soon found themselves in early trouble losing two quick wickets to off-spinner Baksh. Raja Ananda (32) and Dilp Chavan (23), tried to repair the early damage by adding 33 runs for the third-wicket, as both were very watchful and picked up singles when available.
Left-arm spin twins Rudy Jaglall and Oditnarine Ramlochan made life very difficult for the Gymkhana batsman by not allowing them to score freely and picking up regular wickets. Ramlochan was the chief destroyer picking up 5 for 20. The only other batsmen to reach double figures were Jaideep Reddy and Nukul, with 16 and 10 respectively. Boston Gymkhana “B” was reduced to 120 all out. Ramlochan finished with bowling figures of 7.3-1-20-5 and received support from Rudy Jaglall, 6-1-11-3 and Baksh 8-1-22-2.
In Reply, Guyana got off to a flying start with Sharaz Baksh (32) and Mohabir Balgobin (15), adding 43 runs for the first-wicket in the first six overs. Baksh took on the opening bowlers striking 3x4s and 2x6s, but was smartly caught at square-leg due to a mistimed flick.
Gymkhana being a spirited team seized the opportunity by picking up five more quick wickets without much trouble to the score. Rudy Jaglall (15), Oditnarine Ramlochan and Naresh Goolcharran (9*), showed some fight. However, Guyana was bowled out for 113, falling eight runs short of the target. Nakul picked up 4 for 18 off his 8 overs. While Raja Ananda, Jaideep Reddy and Mahesh Balasubramanian each shared two wickets apiece.
