The American Cricket Federation is delighted to welcome renown bowling coach, and the author of several highly-regarded bowling manuals, Ian Pont, to its Honorary Advisory Board.

Ian, a former ECB National Skill Sets Coach, has worked with Kent, Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Essex and Northants in his native England, but appreciation for his talent has taken him around the globe. In 2006, he was chosen as the Assistant Head Coach/National Bowling Coach of the Netherlands national side, and then was named bowling coach for Bangladesh in 2010, after which his team won 11 of 14 ODIs in the run up to the 2011 World Cup.
Today, Ian leads the Ultimate Pace Foundation, based at the Karnataka Institute Of Cricket in Bangalore. Back in England, Ian owns the Mavericks Cricket Institute.
Ian is also very familiar to many young players in the United States, as he has conducted many coaching camps with DreamCricket Academy. An interesting footnote to Ian’s American experience is that he had try outs with six Major League Baseball teams in 1986 and 1987, including the Yankees and the Phillies.
More recently, the ICC lauded Ian for his brave stand against corruption in cricket as coach of the Dhaka Gladiators in 2013.
David Richardson, CEO of the ICC said, “The actions of Ian Pont in reporting the corrupt approach and then helping the ACSU to establish the extent of the corruption are to be highly commended. On behalf of the ICC, the ACSU and the sport of cricket in general, I wish to express my thanks to Mr Pont for all that he has done to uphold the integrity of the sport of cricket. The sport would benefit greatly if it contained more men of Mr Pont’s integrity and quality.”
Ian Pont said, “The work ACF is doing for cricket in America is tremendous and it is a privilege to be asked to join their advisory board. As someone committed to developing talent from across the globe, I am personally excited that the US has some wonderfully talented players. I’ve spent time coaching in America and fully appreciate how important the role is that ACF is playing for the betterment of the game.”
ACF CEO Jamie Harrison said, “We are excited to have someone of Ian’s talent and character join the ACF team. Ian is well known to fans both in America and around the world, and his support for cricket in the United States is also legendary. His addition to the Honorary Advisory Board is a tremendous boost for the game in this country.”
