ICC Leadership Team To Tour The USA From May 7th

The United States of America Cricket Association (USACA) is proud to announce that senior representatives from the peak body of world cricket, the International Cricket Council (ICC), will tour the USA next week.

ICC Chief Executive Mr. David Richardson.

ICC President Mr. Alan Isaac, Chief Executive Mr. David Richardson and Global Development Manager Mr. Tim Anderson arrive in New York on Tuesday May 7th. The visit is the first time this level of senior ICC leadership has toured the country and is a strong endorsement of the new direction of the sport in the USA.

The delegation’s itinerary comprises a variety of activities including a visit to a Public Schools Athletic League (PSAL) cricket match in New York, meetings with the New York Police Commissioner Mr. Ray Kelly, ESPN (ICC’s broadcast partner in the US) CEO Mr. John Skipper, agencies of the US State Department and finally attendance at the USACA May Board meeting in Washington DC.

USACA President Mr. Gladstone Dainty welcomed the visit by the ICC leadership; “USACA is a proud Associate Member of the ICC and we are delighted to have their leadership team visit out country. USACA has developed a new strategic direction for the development of cricket in the USA. Our goal is to move from a volunteer organization to a professional cricket administration and to make cricket a sport for all Americans.

The fact that the ICC is demonstrating such public support for that strategic direction by visiting the US is greatly appreciated and gives us confidence that we are on the right track. During the visit USACA will discuss with the delegation its plans for the future development of cricket in the US, from the grass roots through to the elite levels for men and women. These plans have been developed with the ICC Strategic Plan 2011 – 2015 foremost in mind.”

ICC CEO Mr David Richardson said; “The United States is a key territory for cricket’s global development.

Significant interest and participation in the sport already exists, particularly amongst South Asian and Caribbean communities, and the potential for future expansion is exciting.

We are encouraged by recent steps taken by USACA to improve administration and governance structures in order to achieve this growth, and look forward to meeting their officials and other important stakeholders during this visit.”

The ICC delegation will travel from Washington DC to Toronto to attend the ICC Development Committee meeting.
