On June 22 at the Chuck Klein Softball Complex in Indianapolis, the Indy Legends will host the 3rd Annual Legends Cup One-Day Tournament. Twenty teams will participate in the hard tennis ball tourney, and Indiana Youth Cricket will be conducting a youth clinic for all ages. In addition, a “Basics of Cricket” coaching certification program will also be offered by IYCA’s Jatin Patel for adults who wish to teach cricket to others. Local NBC affiliate WTHR (Channel 13) will be there doing live broadcasts between 9:00 am – 10:00 am.
The host Indy Legends Cricket Club was established in 2010 by Parag Pandya to play amatuer hard tennis ball cricket in the Midwest. It hosts two tournament every summer.
Indiana Youth Cricket has rolled out cricket as a PE Program in over 240 schools in Indiana. Recently, INYCA celebrated its 3rd year of partnership with Indiana University’s Physical Education Summer Insitute, and sixteen more schools are expected to launch cricket in Indiana at the start of the 2013-14 school year. IYCA has now instructed 357 teachers, 71 of whom are now “Basics of Cricket” Certified in Indiana, while the PESI summer event provides great a opportunity to interact with many PE teachers from across Indiana.
INYCA also plan to kick start “Advanced Cricket” & “Umpiring Basics” clinics during this summer which will support its plan for T10 Inter-school programs for the 2013-14 school year.
