The American Cricket Federation is very happy to announce that international cricket and baseball coach Julien Fountain will be joining its Honorary Advisory Board.
Renowned coach Julien Fountain has joined a list of ex-international stars that are already on the Honorary Advisory Board of the ACF.
Fountain, who has served on the coaching staffs of the West Indies, Pakistan, Bangladesh and England, and has been instrumental in the global rise in fielding excellence, brings with him a distinguished coaching career. As well as supporting Test, ODI & T20 international teams, Fountain has coached professional and T20 franchise cricket teams in various parts of the world.
And his professional input has not been limited to ICC Full Members either. His most recent assignment was as Head Coach of South Korea, where he converted a group of Korean baseball players into T20 Cricketers to compete at the Asian Games in Incheon. Korea put on a fantastic display of newly acquired expertise and duly qualified for the quarter finals against Sri Lanka. Not bad for a team with only 12 months of cricket experience!
“I am very honored to be joining such a distinguished group of individuals,” said Fountain. “To have my name alongside the likes of Clive Lloyd, Ian Chappell, Shaun Pollock, Michael Holding and Arjuna Ranatunga means a great deal to me, as these men are incredibly well respected around the world of cricket.
“Due to my dual background in both cricket and baseball, I have always followed USA Cricket with a keen interest,” Fountain added. “If I can assist the USA with reaching its goal of participating at world cricket events, and competing successfully against full member nations, it will mean a great deal to me.”
In fact, Fountain is potentially already paving the way for a much stronger USA team of the future, having launched a ground-breaking project called “Switch Hit 20,” a project designed to help former professional baseball players learn cricket skills, and hopefully create a new career path for themselves playing T20. Fountain joins existing HAB members Arjuna Ranatunga, Ian Chappell, Clive Lloyd, Shaun Pollock, Michael Holding, Stuart MacGill, Damien Martyn, Nathan Bracken, Alvin Kallicharran, Niall O’Brien, Vince Adams and Stephen Rooke.
