Justin Lacche: First Badshahs to Reach 1,500 Career Runs

BEAVERTON, OREGON – Justin Lacche became the first batsman from the Beaverton Cricket Badshahs, LLC to reach 1,500 career runs. The Badshahs are currently celebrating their 10th season of play.

“In cricket, for the most part, I’m a role player. So, my job is to be ready in any situation to help our top batsmen, bowlers, everyone, in whatever way the team needs me,” Lacche said. “To reach 1,500 career runs is a team milestone in my mind. I dedicate this, and give full credit, to my more than 60 teammates from seven different countries – all who have worn the Badshahs shield in competition.”

The Badshahs are one the longest lasting cricket teams in the United States formed under a limited liability company, and Lacche attributes the cultural diversity of the team, and focus on growing the sport in the Pacific Northwest, as key drivers.

“Yes, cricket has a long way to go in the United States with respect to awareness and participation, but we’ve seen so many new leagues, and youth camps and even pick-up/street cricket matches in the last 3-5 years – there is a legitimate cause for excitement,” Lacche said.

The prolific batsman also credits the American Cricket Federation and USA Cricket for making tremendous strides nationally to raise awareness, level of play, and bringing credibility to the sport in the United States.

“Like any team sport in life, championships are won with skill, trust, resolve and honor. Being a small part of a national movement is exciting, as is being a part of team in pursuit of excellence,” Lacche opined.

Outside of cricket, Lacche is a goalie on a top-three Pacific Northwest handball team (Portland Sasquatch), is in his seventh season as a batting/practice squad player with the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes (San Francisco Giants), and he recently won the Oregon State Men’s 3.0 Singles Tennis Championship.
