The second cricket event, sponsored by the Lawrence and Audrey Rowe Legendary Foundation, will get underway at the Central Broward Regional Park in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Sunday, March 6th. After the first event last January, several of the legends expressed an interest in returning for another star-studded affair.
Along with Lawrence Rowe, the other legends who have accepted the invitation, to date are: fast bowler, Joel Garner, opening batsman, Desmond Haynes and middle-order batsmen Gus Logie and Ramnaresh Sarwan, along with Faoud Bacchus, Lance Gibbs, Rohan Kanhai and Alvin Kallicharran. Several other super stars have expressed a willingness to participate, but have not yet given their approval.
Two T20 games will be played on Sunday, March 6thThe first game gets underway at 10 am, while the second game will start at 3 pm. The legends will, once again, be playing against some of the top players in the USA. There will also be a batting cage set up at the stadium so that the youngsters can get a chance to mingle with the legends.
General admission is $15, and children under 12, accompanied by an adult, will be admitted free. Admission to the VIP lounge will be $65, which will allow access to the legends, along with food and drinks. Part of the proceeds from the last game was given to former West Indies fast bowler, Patrick Patterson, while proceeds for this event will go to benefit two yet-to-be-named former West Indies players.
When asked about the upcoming event, Rowe said, “The brainchild of the Lawrence and Audrey foundation was to put on a cricket event, which would allow fans to see some of the stars of yesteryear along with some of the current stars, while using some of the proceeds to help some of the less fortunate former West Indies players who might be having some financial difficulty”.
The foundation expects to make this an annual event.
