In Brooklyn, all-rounder Zahib Tariq of Franklin D. Roosevelt took six wickets against Martin Van Buren to clinch a spot against John Adams in one of the PSAL cricket semi-finals.
In Queens at the picturesque Baisley cricket ground, John Adams Spartans’ defeated Roosevelt’s division rival Abraham Lincoln by nine wickets with a magnificent knock of 73 coming from exciting opening batsman Troy Mars.
Mars would depart, but talented Randall Wilson (51*) rotated the strike and picked up the odd boundaries to ensure victory for the Spartans.
At Idlewild Park, Long Island City continues to prove why they are the number #1 team this year. The Bulldogs defeated Midwood by ten wickets to clinch the second semi-final spot to face Hillcrest Hawks.
Is it going to be a repeat of last year’s final with the LIC Bulldogs squaring off against the defeating champions FDR or will this be the year of the Spartans or the Hawks?
