Maryland YCA President Jamie Harrison and Treasurer Sham Chotoo will travel to Colorado Springs next month for the International Cricket Council’s USA Cricket National Youth Participation Seminar. The two-day meeting will feature practical workshops as well as group discussions and presentations.
According to the ICC, the seminar, to be held on February 13-14, will “…bring together various experts in the field of ‘growing the game’ from both the US cricket community, the wider US sports community, as well as game development expertise from abroad.
“Commencing with strategies around the introduction of both girls and boys to our game, as well as theories and practical for keeping new audiences engaged, the workshops will ultimately be focused on tactics to capture interest, develop skills and progress youths into long term cricketers.”
Harrison said, “I’m really looking forward to engaging with those from across the country who are involved in youth cricket, and I’m encouraged by the ICC’s focus on increasing participation through new audiences.
“As Maryland is the national leader in spreading cricket to new demographics, I believe that Sham and I will have much to add to this important conversation.”
