By Nicholas Nandan
As the years came and went by Meten-Meer-Zorg Superstars Team has always being one of the standouts in the NYPD Cricket tournament which is currently being contested across the beautiful city of New York mainly In the Queens area.
This year the team is a well balanced unit with mixture of both new comers and a few guys from the team that lost in the final last year. The squad in general is one of the youngest in the entire competition. The team is managed Fiaz Asgarally and coached by Ajaz Asgarally a former Guyana national youth player. He is known for his amazing glove work, prolific stroke play with the bat and his ability to be mentally calm in tough situations and an amazing captain. His deputy is touted as one of the best all rounder currently playing for the USA he is no other than the flamboyant Andy Mohammed. They both will combine their strategies and share their experience with the team so that they will be prepared for any scenario.
The batting department will be led by the captain Rafeeq Nazeer who needs no introduction to this competition as he is known for his aggressive stroke play and his ability to give the opposition pace bowlers headaches. He will receive support from the likes of Ryan Ramnarine, Jason Hall, Robin Ramasami, Hamad Hussain, Chetram Persaud, Keeran Krishna, Shalendra Shameer, John Bahadur, Surendrasing, Steven Chaitram, Nyeem Hafeez, Nadeem Asgarally, Nyad Asgarally and Hardeep Singh, all of whom can be match winners as they have both the ability to work the ball around and going over the top at any giving time.
The bowling department is very experienced with the likes of young mystery spinner Nicholas Nandan, Govinda Balgobin, Michael katwaroo, Rafeeq Nazeer, Shalendra Shameer and the ever improving US under-17 player Chetram Mario Persaud controlling the spinning department. The pace attack is also one to be reckon with, which includes Keeran Krishna, Sachin Racktoo and Hamad Hussain.
