A captain’s knock by Liberty Sports Club’s Micheal Noble help his side to defeat Camelot Cricket Club by 7 wickets in their Week 6, EACA Power40 fixture. The stylish right hander stroked an attractive 119 as LSC successfully chased 240 for victory on Sunday.
Camelot took first strike and took advantage of some loose bowling from LSC and a quick Flushing outfield. Led by the Khan brothers, who both got pass 50, CCC posted the team’s highest total for the 2012 season.
Given the woes LSC hand the previous week chasing Atlantis’ 256 the previous week the host team would have liked their chances defending the total.
Bowling for LSC Terrence Madramootoo and Micheal Noble picked up 3 wickets each while Ramratan Jagnarine bagged 2 and Vijengra and Thakur Singh 1 wicket each.
The LSC innings got off to yet another poor start as Dilly Khilawan’s new opening partner, brother Vickey, fell early in the innings. The chase would take shape from here onwards, however, as number 3 batsman Micheal Noble strode to the crease.
Dilly would be the first of the two to take the charge to the Camelot attack. Playing in his usual aggressive manner Dilly punished anything with width and in his zone. On the other side Noble was slowly building his innings while allowing Dilly to steer the inning.
Dilly got pass 50 and would secure LSC in a safe position at 178 for 2 when he got out. From there onwards it was Noble to took charge of finishing off the chase.
The elegant right hander stroked the ball to all parts of the ground and eventually brought up the first century for the Achievers Real Estate NY Inc. sponsored Club in 2012 and his second overall century for LSC. He would finally fall on 119 but that left Andy Harricharran (24*) and Imtiaz Hassan (9*) with under 20 runs to successfully bring home the chase.
LSC plays its final Power40 Zone 1 fixture against Enmore CC this Sunday at Flushing and will be looking for a win to secure a spot in the EACA Devision A championships.
