2014 Diversity Cup Tournament
The Diversity Cup, one of the Midwest USA’s premier cricket tournaments, takes place this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, June 7-8, in the State of Michigan. Presented by Global Sports, Inc., with the support of volunteers from the Michigan Cricket Association, the Diversity Cup is an annual tournament that attracts teams comprised not only of the best local players, but also of top cricketers from across North America, not to mention a handful of men with experience at the highest levels of international cricket.
Teams representing different parts of the cricketing world compete in this T-20 tournament for a cash first prize of $6000, with other awards for individual performances. Smart Choice World XI will be competing with 10 other teams to defend the title they won last year: Asia XI; Subcontinent XI Titans; USA Stars; West Indies Masters; Sri Lanka Lions; Canada Maple Leafs; Bangladesh Tigers; India Blues; Pakistan Greens; Asia XI Royal Kings.
Matches are played at grounds across the Metro Detroit area – Bloomer Park, Rochester Hills; Trombly Park, Warren; Mirage, Detroit; and Lyon Oaks, Wixom on Saturday, while the semi-finals take place on Sunday morning at Bloomer Park and Mirage, with the final at Bloomer Park, starting at 3pm on Sunday.
