New York Youth Cricket Club Put An End To Kings XI Unbeaten Streak

New York Youth Cricket Club (NYYCC) continued its winning streak on Sunday, June 3 as it moved to 4-0 by giving previously undefeated Kings X1 Cricket Club its first defeat of the season. In the game played at Idlewild grounds, NYYCC won the toss and gave first strike to the Kings X1.

Chris Singh continues to impress with the ball for New York Youth Cricket Club taking 4 for 22 against Kings XI.

Kings opened with Asif and Nahir to the bowling of NYYCC‘s 16 year old Bjorn Brown and 18 year old Chris Singh.  It did not take long for them to dislodge the opening pair as Brown had Asif caught by Syed Hussain for 8 and Nahir went to a brilliant catch behind the wicket by Moeez Quereshi for 7.  Azrab was bowled Singh for 7 and Awais went caught by Nazeer off Singh for 0, and soon after Suhail was run-out for 1 on a direct throw from Brown fielding at long-off as the batsmen attempted a second run.

The game was interrupted by rain for 15 minutes and the covers had to be brought on.

The score was 31 for 4 when Rizwan walked to the crease. He and Moshsin tried to resurrect the team as Rizwan took 18 runs off one over from leg-spinner Syed Hussain. However he soon fell to a well judged catch by Randall Wilson off the bowling of Zaheb Tariq for 25 with the score at 64.

Another catch by Moeez off Singh got rid of Mohsin for 11. Moeez capped a fine day behind the wicket by stumping Wali off Hussain for 3. Tariq had Khan caught for 0 and Hussain wrapped up the tail by getting Bilal lbw for 0. Kings X1 all out for 84 in 19.1 overs

Chris Singh finished with 4 for 22 in 6 overs, Brown 1 for 28 in 6 overs, Hussain 2 for 24 in 3.2 overs and Tariq 2 for 8 in 4 overs.

Nazeer Rafeek and Trevor Singh opened the batting for NYYCC but with the score at 8, Singh was out to a brilliant caught and bowl by Janoo for 3. Wilson did not stay long as he drove straight to cover and was caught for 4. Tariq joined Nazeer and they took the score to 70 before Nazeer was surprised by a yorker and was out for 21. Surrendra Singh was promoted in the order and stayed with Tariq until the target was reached without further loss. Tariq was not out with a well played 37

Khan 1 for 10 in 3 overs and Bilal 1 for 12 were the best bowlers for Kings X1.

The next two scheduled matches for NYYCC are against Kingsgrove on Saturday, June 9 at 88th Street at Seaview, Brooklyn and New York Centurions on Sunday, June 10 at Idlewild Park at 223rd Street, Rosedale, Queens.
