Micheal Noble stroked an unbeaten 78 to follow up his 6th round 119 to spearhead the Achievers Real Estate NY Inc. sponsored Liberty Sports Club fourth win of the 2012 EACA Power40 season. For the second weekend in a row the LSC skipper anchored a successful run chase to deliver his team a victory against Enmore Cricket Club.
Liberty SC won the toss and elected to field first at Flushing II, a decision which proved fruitful when opening bowler Imtiaz Hassan struck early to remove Enmore Cricket Club’s opening pair with less than 10 runs on the board.
Teryll Datt (25) and Chaman Ramdial (22) would set about a cautious rebuilding operation but patience ran dry when Datt got stumped trying to charge Ramratan Jagnarine. Ramdial followed shortly after holding out to point going after a wide ball outside off stump against the same bowler.
Safraz Ali, who already has three 100’s to his name in the 2012 season, would continue his exceptional form with an attacking 51. Veteran, Jerry Persaud, reminded the LSC youngsters of his cricketing exploits as he blasted 25 coming in at number 8 to boost ECC to 166 for 8 off their allotted 35 overs.
Seamer, Terrence ‘Coolie Bai’ Madramootoo, polished off the last three ECC batsmen to get amongst the wickets with Hassan and Jagnarine.
Dilly Khilawan and Andy Harrichan started the LSC chase but Harrichan would fall would fall early to Mahadeo Motana. Dilly and Micheal Noble would cautiously see off opening bowlers Motana and Jerry Persaud who settled on a solid line and length. Restricting the men in blue to 35 after 14 overs. ECC was in a solid position with LSC needing just over 6 per over to win the game. The loss of Dilly (21) while trying to up the run rate did not help the efforts.
Noble turned up the scoring rate shortly after, however. Joined with the hard hitting Bose Persaud the pair consolidated the required run rate in an 80 runs partnership. Noble took the lead in the partnership as he struck 7 fours and 2 sixes on his way past his third 50 plus score of the season. Enmore spinners Jason Thomas and Shivraj Jainarine faced the brunt of the assault as LSC quickly pulled ahead of the par score in the 25th over.
Persaud (28) would fall along with two other LSC wickets before the chase was completed in the 31st over with Noble unbeaten on 78 and Danesh Deonarain on 9.
Asif Ali picked up 2 LSC wickets while Motana, Jainaraine and Thomas picked up one wicket each.
