New York Cricket Region talented youths of Azrudeen Mohammed, Ileo Freeman, Casper Davis, and Maurice Powell placed NY Region on top of the points standing in the USACA Eastern Conference Under-19 National Tournament.
Mohammed and Freeman set the foundation in the early stage of the inning, in which they combine for 112-runs opening partnership. Azrudeen Mohammed and Ileo Freeman scored 84, and 41 respectively, but it was the trio combination of pace and spin from Casper Davis, Maurice Powell, and Azrudeen Mohammed that secured victory for New York.
A pumped up Davis bowled a hostile spell (10-0-40-3) of fast bowling in which he encouraged the batsmen to play their shots, and Powell continues to prove why he’s one of New York talented off-spinners. Mohammed took the prize wicket of the South East Region captain, who at one point threatened to take the match away from the “Big Apple” boys.
Davis was very pleased to bowl his complete spell in which he dismissed two batsmen very quickly in his second spell. Coach Ricky Kissoon, Rudy John, and Manager Patrick Sutherland encouraged Davis to bowl wicket-to-wicket where he is mostly effective.
Maurice Powell must be commended for his consistent tight spell of off-spin in which he finished with excellent bowling figures of 10-1-27-2. Mohammed was voted man-of-match for his well played 84, and excellent bowling figures of 9-2-37-1.
