The 2015 Owen Graham memorial youth cricket tournament sponsored by ThinkPalm Technologies, that was played in the San Francisco Bay Area, California over the Labor Day long weekend of September 5, 6 & 7, 2015 was a resounding success.
The youth tournament was conducted by the newly formed Owen Graham Cricket Club (OGCC) and it was great to see youth from across the length and breadth of the bay area, regardless of their affiliations to the various cricket academies in the area, come together to honor their departed coach Owen Graham who trained most of these young cricketers. There were 4 u19 teams (2 visiting and 2 local) in the under-19 category and 3 u15 teams (all local) in the under-15 age category.
The tournament was conducted in two age categories, Under-19 and Under-15. OGCC had announced open online registrations for both age categories and more than 70 local youth had registered for the same and as many as 62 of them ended up playing in the tournament along with the youth from the two visiting U19 teams from Los Angeles (SoCal Youth) & Dallas, Texas (United Youth Tigers). 85 youth cricketers participated in the 3 day tournament and it just goes to show the amount of interest in youth cricket there is in America in general.
OGCC would like to thank the SoCal Youth (Los Angeles) Manager Pradeep Patel and Coach Mumtaz Yusuf and the United Youth Tigers (Dallas) Manager Pradeep Mainker and his parents support group and coach Thiru Kumaran for bringing their well-trained youth to the tournament and we are hopeful that we will have their repeat participation as well as a few more teams from around the country in the future editions of the OG Youth tournament.
OGCC would also like to thank all our tournament sponsors for stepping up for such a wonderful cause and we hope to have you partner with us in the future as well. We would like to thank the Team managers, namely Rajesh Suthar (OG Reds), Andrew Healy (OG Blues), Jagat Singh (OG Broncos), Ravi Guddanti (OG Mustangs) and Dashrath Sankhe (OG Colts) and thank all the parent managers who went beyond the call of duty in assisting us.
