Orlando Baker To Lead Youthful USA Team

Americas T20 Qualifiers
USACA today announced the USA National Men’s team to compete in ICC Americas Division 1 T20 Qualifier Tournament to be staged in Florida from March 18th to 25th, 2013.

Other ICC Americas Associates competing in the tournament include Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Suriname and the Americas Division II champions, Bahamas.

The tournament will be double round robin, with each team playing each other twice. The top 2 finishers qualify for ICC World T20 Qualifiers to be played in November 2013 in the UAE. From the Americas, Canada has already qualified for the World Qualifiers.

The Chairman of USA National Selection Committee Selwyn Caesar said from New York today, “The squad is comprised of players with a mix of experience and talent and the team is expected to perform creditably at the tournament. In addition to opening batsman Steven Taylor, the squad includes former USA U/19 players Naseer Jamali (left medium fast bowler), Abhimanyu Rajp (off spinner), Akeem Dodson (wicket keeper/batsman), Saqib Saleem (off spinner) and Ryan Corns (all-rounder).”

Veteran Barrington Bartley and newcomers to ICC Internationals,  Danial Ahmed, Timothy Surujbally, Karan Ganesh and Nicholas Standford are all included due to impressive performances at last November Auty Cup Series.

Team USA will again have the services of Robin Singh as its Head Coach. Former India player Kumaran Thirunavukkarasu is Assistant Coach withNasir “Charlie” Javed the Bowling Coach and Akthar Masood Syed, Physiotherapist. The team will be managed by Shoaib Ahmed.
