Long-time cricket administrator Orville Hall has joined Cricket Council USA as the Vice President of Public Relations for the upcoming US Open T 20 Tournament which will be held at the Central Broward Regional Park from December 3 to 6.
Hall brings a wealth of experience to the position after holding several similar positions over the years. He was the public relations officer for the New York Barbados cricket team, public relations manager for the United States Cricket Association, and currently holds the position as public relations director for the United States Youth Cricket Association. Hall has held several other positions in cricket along the way; president of New Rochelle Cricket Club in New York, president of the American Cricket League, also in New York, and had his own radio program – On the Ball with Orville Hall – on WKDM 1380 AM in New York.
He was a senior sports reporter for WNWK- 105.9 FM and WPAT 1930 AM and also covered cricket matches for WLIB 1190 AM. Apart from cricket, Hall, who currently resides in Florida, is president of the Caribbean American Social Club of Lehigh Acres, and was recently appointed by Lee County Commissioner, Frank Mann, to the advisory board of Parks and Recreation. He was recently inducted in the USA Cricket Hall of Fame in Hartford, Connecticut. Hall is employed as a senior budget analyst for a major US Corporation.
About his appointment, Hall said “I’m thrilled to be able to assist Cricket Council USA with this very important assignment. I have seen the tournament grow from strength to strength over the years, and I am glad to be a part of this ongoing phenomenon.” President and CEO, Maq Qureshi said “we are fortunate to have someone with Orville’s ability and experience to take up these duties. I have seen his entire resume, and it is very impressive. We look forward to working with him on this project.” Hall is also very instrumental in assisting some of the young cricketers in the USA with contract negotiations.
