Northern California Cricket Association (NCCA) has organized an Indian Premier League (IPL) style T20 tournament for the July 4th weekend. A player auction for the 2019 ANIKRIS title sponsored NPL T20 was conducted on June 15th last.
A total of 240 players were registered for the draft with 118 players eventually drafted in the auction; including 19 iconic players across six teams. The auction telecasted live by NCCA was an exact replica of an IPL style auction with owners aggressively bidding for prime players. Many international players were drafted in the auction.
Owners for all six teams, All-Stars, California Zalmi, Spinners, Warriors, Lions XI, and Silicon Valley X-factors were present for the auction. Anuj Patel, Chairman of the NCCA Board of Directors, led the auction from the front.
The ANIKRIS NPL T20 auction saw Under-19 players drafted by all teams, with 10 youth players selected across the six teams expected to participate in the tournament. The ANIKRIS NPL T20 is offering $10,000 as the total prize purse of the tournament.
NCCA appointed Govardhan Gayam as Tournament Commissioner with Ganesh Sanap and Anuj Patel serving on the tournament committee.
The NPL T20 finals will be played under lights at the Fremont Cricket Field on July 7th.
