Pakistan Remains Unbeaten In NY Cricket Academy U19 Tri-Series T20 Tournament

New York Cricket Academy Nations Series
Windies U-19 recovered to beat Bangladesh U-19 after losing to Pakistan U-19 in New York Cricket Academy Nations Series. In game one Windies won the toss and decided to bat first in damp conditions.

Pakistan

Openers Rafeek Nazeer (26) and Randall (26) Wilson made the Pakistanis toil as they added 50 for the first wicket after nine overs. Windies took full advantage of any loose bowling with US National youth batsman Amarnauth Persaud thumping three huge sixes on his way to 25. At the other end Trevis Ross was not devoid of big hitting as he got to 22. Troy Mars (20) and Triston Carmichael (26) continued the lusty hitting to see their side to 165.

For Pakistan Abrar Zafar, Waqas Shah and Zahib Tariq accounted for two wickets each.

Pakistan opened with Abrar Zafar and US youth player Zahib Tariq and they played in the same vein as Wilson and Nazeer.  However, their scoring rate was superior to that of the West Indians. Abrar fell one short of fifty as Pakistan lost two more wickets before getting home. Tariq finished on 53 as Pakistan were convincing winners.

In match two Windies elected to bat after winning the toss a second time. Randall Wilson lead the charge again at the top of the order, as he batted through to the depth scoring 56, cameos from Ross (22) Carmichael and Rocky Kowchai got their side to 165 for the second time on the day. Bowling for Bangladesh Rana, Sajib Salam and Asfaque Chowdhury had two wickets each.

Windies

Bangladesh was never in the hunt as Ross accounted for the first three dismissals.  Left-arm orthodox Brandon Dat picked up two more to keep their opponents in check. Sajib’s heroic was much needed on the day but the task was even too daunting for him. Off spinner Mario Persaud finished off the tail bagging three wickets as Bangladesh closed on 123. Windies will hope that Bangladesh can surprise the Pakistani when they meet, to keep the tournament interesting.
