USACUA Media Release
The Executive and members of the United States of America Cricket Umpires Assn, (USACUA) wish to announce the passing of one of its legendary member Lennox “Douggie” Douglas. Umpire Douglas passed away on Sunday September 30, 2012.
Known by many as just “Douggie”, he was a very active member of the USACUA family.
Umpire Douglas was born in St Vincent and the Grenadines where he developed his love for cricket umpiring. On his migration to the USA, he became a member of the newly formed USACUA, and continued to dedicate himself in serving the local leagues in the New York Cricket Region.
He was an integral part of the umpiring fraternity for the New City Department of Education Public School Athletic League (PSAL) high school cricket competition, as well as the New York City Police Department (NYPD Cricket) Under 19 Competition, where he served with equal diligence and dedication.
When last we spoke, Umpire Douglas reminded me that he has served cricket in the role of an umpire for more than 45 years.
Funeral Service for Umpire Douglas will be held at:
Date: Friday October 5th, 2012
Place: St. Anthony Church
425 Utica Avenue
Brooklyn, New York 11213
Time: 4:30- 9:00pm.
Please join us in extending sincere condolences to his wife, and other members of his family.
He will be surely missed. May His Soul rest in peace.
