Pooran 107 Runs Captivate Assassins

Hustler’s star opening batsman Pooran Beria smash a well played century that guide Hustlers to victory over arch rival’s Assassins. Hustlers Captain Javed Ally won the toss and decided to take first strike opening the batting with Pooran Beria and Asif Ally.

Pooran open his account on the second ball with a well time square cut through point for four. Both batsmen batted courageously seeing Hustlers going into half time on 100 without loss, Pooran and Asif unbeaten on 54 and 25 respectively. The pair continued to bat well, taking the score to 134, before Asif Ally was bowled by Frankie Baichu for 37 which include 2 sixes and 2 fours.

Pooran was in fine form stroking the ball finding the gaps and picking up the boundaries with the bad ball, an innings of great strokes and strength of mind as he took the Assassins bowling apart. Sudesh Persaud came to the crease next and bat well for his 39 runs hitting 3 sixes and 2 fours, while Pooran work his way into the nineties.

With two overs remanding Pooran needed 5 more runs for his hundred. The first three balls he did not score and then he dispatch Bux for a six to bring up his hundred. He then hit the next ball for six and was bowled on the final delivery of the over for a brilliant 107 Runs.

Pooran century includes 6 sixes, 5 fours, 4 triples and 10 doubles. Hustlers made 233 for five wickets in 25 overs, bowling for Assassin Ricky Edward pick up 3 wickets for 21 runs.

Assassin started their reply well with the young and aggressive Anand Singh scoring 36 runs off the first three overs between Shawn Persaud and Navin Narine. Assassin 50 came up in the fifth over and the batsmen looked set to destroying Hustlers bowling attack.

Anand Singh was the first batsman to go when he believed that he was caught by the wicket keeper and leave his crease. The wicket keeper remove the bails and he was giving out run out for 46 (6 fours and 3 sixes). Bux and Eon Ellis came together and take the score to 119 for 2 at half time.

Assassin needed 114 runs with 8 wickets in hand and one of the best hard hitting batsmen at the crease Eon Ellis. Ellis and Bux score 45 runs in the next four overs. Captain Javed Ally turns the game around in Hustlers favor when he had Bux on driving to Navin at mid on. And Bus was gone for 39, including 3 fours and 2 sixes.

Ellis was next to go caught by the wicket keeper Rico Knights off of Javed Ally for a brilliant 59 runs (3 sixes and 5 fours). Assassin continues to lose wickets and when their 25 overs were up they were 209 for 9 wickets, losing by 24 runs.

Javed was the best bowler for Hustlers with 4 wickets for 39 runs. After scoring 233 runs, Hustlers had the feeling that they had an easy victory, but Assassin with batsmen like Eon, Bux and Anand show why they are one of the leading team in softball, chasing a large total. Congratulations to Pooran in scoring his century.

Stanly Lloyd 5 Wicked Haul Rose Sunrise Over Nationals

Sunrise bowling continues to be pivotal as Stanly Lloyd revved up his bowling destroying National offense with Sunrise recorded back to back win last Sunday.

Nationals batting first sent in D. Ramsamooj and R. Ulla as they faced Kalif Salim. Kalif in his 2nd over bowled Ulla with the score at 6 in the 3rd over. F. Ulla joined Ramsamooj as they stabled their batting. Stanley Lloyd in his 2nd over had F Ulla caught in the 10th over with the score at 35. In his next over Stanley struck again having H. Ramkarran caught and in his 4th over pickup up D. Ramsamooj who was a stubborn batsmen with a solid 29 runs knock. With the score at 54 for 4 in the 14th overs Stanley Lloyd was devastating as he setup the solid bowling defensive for Sunrise.

In the start of the 16 overs Kalif returned and had S. Ulla caught behind by Wahab Hussain. As Deryck Basdeo, Sunrise captain bowling at the #6 spot had S. Singh who made 21 caught behind with the score at 86 for 6 in the 21 overs. Stanley who was persistent removed V. Samuel and Deryck Based had R. Durga who lead National batting with 35 caught with the score at 108 for 8 in 27th over. Stanley who was penetrating and dangerous lead his team bowling and in his 6th over close the game taking out S. Fletchman as Donald was run out.  As Sunrise bowling continued to be strong and promising they wrapped up National in 28.4 overs for 122.

Stanly Lloyd is no stranger to the bowling limelight lead his team bowling as he was devastating taking 5 for 22 in 6 overs. Kalif Salim set the mode for Sunrise stringent bowling with the lean bowling figure of 4-1-5-2; Deryck Basdeo had an important bowling spell as well with the figure 2 for 15 in 2 overs.

In reply Deryck and Roopnarine Dayal opened as Deryck welcome H. Ramkarran with the face of the bat hitting 2 boundaries and tagging him for 13 runs to start the 1st over. As Deryck continue the onslaught S. Singh bowling at #2 was welcome with back to back fours as well. Dayal who was anchoring moving the ball around and rotating the strike looked settle as this opening pair gave a solid start. Deryck who was aggressive and punishing was caught for 27 which included 5 boundaries off the bowling of F. Ulla with the score at 41 in the 6th over.

It was an important start for Sunrise as Wahab Hussein came in and hitting a boundary to go over the mark. Wahab continued his aggressive batting as he blasted F. Ulla for 18 runs accelerating Sunrise total close to victory. Dayal who was batting a masterpiece compliment Wahab who made a lightning 28 as he was bowled by S. Ulla with the score at 102 for 3. With victory in sight Ramesh and Alex Hussain was given batting opportunity as Alex slammed a six to get off the mark. Sunrise batting offensive came alive timely as they powered their way to victory beating National total making 123 in 17th overs. As the Sunrise team won this important game it was important boost which lift their confidence. Most importantly it was a treat o see Dayal spectacular batting came alive as he lead his team batting with the top score of 37 not out.

S. Singh lead National bowling with the figure 3 for 26 in 4 over followed by S. Ulla 2 for 26 in 2 overs.

Flasherz End West Coast 30 Over Hopes

It was a season ending game for both teams on a hot and sunny day at Bay Park, Flasherz won the toss and elected to bat, West Coast struck early in the second over to remove Dharampaul Singh off the bowling of Ken Boodram. In walks the second of the Singh Brothers, Nayal Singh joining opening batsman Randy Narayan who had no choice but to anchor down to build a partnership.

The West Coast bowlers were on target and put the Flasherz batsmen on the defensive. West Coast eventually got rid of Nayal Singh in the 15th over for a patient and well deserved 29. At the halfway mark, Flasherz were 66 for 2.

Flasherz Captain Rocco start striking the ball in the gaps and start ticking the Flashers score card. Randy fell, and soon after Rocco had the misfortune of being bowled after the ball came off his pants and clipping the top of the bails. It was Richard and Vickash Singh (the third of the Singh Brothers) at the crease.

Vickash hitting the ball all over the ground finding the boundary with ease putting the West Coast fielders in frenzy. Vickash Singh top score for Flashers with 39 not out.

Flasherz, after some wonderful batting in the second half of the match added 118 runs to the total. After their allotted over’s Flasherz managed to climb to 184 for7 wickets.  Leading the batting for Flasherz was Vickash Singh 39 not out, Nayal Singh 29, Rocco 16, Richard 21,

Randy Narayan 29. Bowling for West Coast, Rishedeo took 2 for 22, Ken Boodram 1 for 28, Lilkumar 1 for 28 and R. Ali 1 for 25.

Flasherz took the ball and have to defend their total, opening the bowling for Flasherz were Vikram and C. Sookwah. Vikram and Sookwah literally shut the West Coast batsmen down and they only managed to score 39 off their 12 over spell.

At the half, West Coast were 52 for 2, with 133 runs to win in the second half the West Coast batsmen start to take some chances, but with the fielding being what it was West Coast had a few run outs and the Singh brothers dominated the second half with some superb bowling. Dharampaul send back three batsmen in one over and it was all over for West Coast. West Coast eventually managed to break the hundred line mark and was all out for 109, N. Hamid 38, I. Ali 17.

Crown XI Down Lions To Make It 5 and 0

Lions won the toss and decided to bat first making 155 runs all out in 29 overs. Best batting came from A. Singh 46 runs, V. Persaud 30 runs and D. Sumosar 16 runs.

S. Persaud struck 64 and took 2 for 31.

Best bowling for Crown XI was S. Persaud 5 overs 2 wickets 31 runs D. Behari 6 overs 2 wicket 16 runs and S. Alli 1 over 2 wickets 2 runs. Crown XI reply with 161 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs.

Leading the batting for Crown XI was S. Persaud with 64 runs, H. Azeez scored 27 runs and Raymond Williams scored 24 runs.

Bowling for Lions was Anthony 5 overs 3 wicket, N. Ramdin and A. Singh took 1 wicket each.
