January 25, 2019 – After very successful previous Easter Holiday tours of Barbados and Jamaica, the Queens United Cricket Academy (QUCA) in New York, is taking various age group squads from across the USA on a 2019 Easter Holiday tour to Trinidad and Tobago, West Indies. Players from various academies will travel with QUCA staff to Trinidad to play a series of games against local academies, clubs, and other touring sides, from April 17– April 28th, 2019.
The QUCA staff is very familiar with and knowledgeable of the requirements for overseas tours. Parents may rest assured that QUCA will take care of all the arrangements and provide all of the children with a memorable experience. Having spent the 2018 domestic season in USA and Canada honing their skills and playing a series of games, the QUCA team will jet off to Trinidad & Tobago to get a taste of life on tour as cricketers. Each squad will focus on their continued skills development as well as taking time out to explore their surroundings and learning more about playing cricket overseas.
George Samuel, QUCA Academy Director, Tony Hinds, Academy President, and club President Austin Hutchison are looking forward to this post winter tour program. Playing and training week after week at an indoor cricket facility here in USA, it’s a relief to players and it has kept them alert, fit and in touch with the game. QUCA’s superb Cricket Development (coaching) team focuses on ensuring players develop their skills to a higher level so that they can enjoy playing, and hopefully winning games.
“Playing overseas and touring as a team adds a totally different dimension to one’s cricket. The opportunity to tour, play and train together under different conditions are key parts of a cricketer’s development at QUCA, and what the staff strives to offer all players. The task of adapting to the West Indies playing conditions will be a challenging one. We want to enable our players to become the best they can be by exposing them to as many challenges and learning experiences as possible,” said Coach George Samuel. Adding, “The experiences and memories that the players will collect on and off the pitch, during the tour will last a lifetime. Along with QUCA coaches, George Samuel, and Lalit Bhatia, some of the Level 3 coaches will work with the touring side.
Regardless of the results, the friendships forged and skills the players will develop are equally as important, as whether the teams win or lose. I’m really pleased and proud that we can extend this opportunity to North American players and coaches.”
