Richmond cricket club begin their T20 campaign with convincing victory over Big Apple last Sunday at Baisley Pond Park (Rockaway Blvd. and 150 Street).
Sent in to bat after losing the toss, Richmond Hill CC was soon in trouble as Royo Sankar was caught by Z. Saffie for a first ball duck off F. Mendonca. Imran Alli was next in as he and Debo Sankar consolidates the innings with a 2nd wicket partnership of 35. Imran Ali (15) was adjudged lbw padding up to Mark Chucky Gomes. Zaheer Sadloo (7), Deryck McDonald (6) fell cheaply as Big Apple bowlers held a consistence line. Debo Sankar (20) and Shameer Sadloo (18) fell candidate via the lbw route to Mark Chucky Gomes as last four wickets P. Mahadeo (6), M. Seeram (6), D. Seepersaud (7) and D. Puran (2) fell for just 20 runs. RHCC was eventually bowled out in the 16th over for 102. Wickets fell at 1-4, 2-35 , 3-53 , 4-63 , 5-86 ,6-90 ,7-95 ,8-102 , 9-102 , 10-102.
Big Apple cc needing to score at just 5.1 an over for victory, looks like an easy run home however, The RHCC bowlers had over plans as Deryck McDonald sent back R. Ramotar (3) and Magmas (5)with the score on 17. F. Mendonca (21) Held the innings together briefly, as he run past Zaheer Sadloo delivery to be brilliantly stumped by P. Mahadeo. The introduction of Shameer Sadloo immediately saw the back of C. Williams (8), he later accounted for N. Balram (1) and T. Johnson(13). Mark Chucky Gomes was brilliantly caught by R. Bactowar for a Duck off Z. Sadloo, Zaheer Saffie(15) joined the crew in the pavilion, caught by M. Seeram in the deep, as Big Apple slumped to 54 for 7.
Kumar Nandalall the last hope for a victory along with Shiv Raghubar bought the game to a thrilling end with big Apple needing 30 off the final 2 overs ,they managed 11runs bowled by R. Bactowar. Needing20 off the final over bowled by M. Seeram they scored 6, 2, .,1, 6, 2, as RHCC pulled off a stunning win. Wickets fell at 1-6,2-17,3-36 ,4-40 , 5-40, 6-41, 7-54, 8-72, 9-100.
