It all started with a question a couple of years ago. Why can’t we create a platform for young cricketers in our backyard? In a short two-year span San Ramon Cricket Association, Dublin Cricket League and Cricket for Cubs combined to answer the question in its entirety, and in the process achieved something phenomenal. They successfully conducted a PSD youth cricket tournament in the tri-valley area.

From November 19th to 22nd 2017 approximately 14 teams competed in Under 11, Under 13 and Under 15 age categories in PSD Cricket tournaments. Players from as far away as San Diego and Michigan participated in the tournament, and one of the Under 11 categories was an all-girls team, and they rocked. Games were played on the Astroturf wickets at Patelco Sports Complex, Pleasanton and Fallen Sports Complex, Dublin. Some of the games were played under lights which was a visual treat for the spectators in attendance.

Just to put the grand success in perspective, in the entire tournament over 5000 runs was scored with the bat, including six centuries and 18 fifties. In the bowling department in excess of 300 wickets were taken with 200+ catches. These numbers indicate just one thing that every kid played their heart out. Visit https://cricclubs.com/PSDYCT for complete statistics. Off the field, over 1000 meals were served during the four days and countless volunteer hours from dedicated parents leading up to the tournament.

In the Under 15 category, San Ramon Cricket Association emerged champions and East Bay Youth Cricket Association was the runners-up. In the Under 13 category, Indus Prince was the champion and East Bay Youth Cricket Association the runner-up. In the Under 11 category, Cricket Zeal Academy emerged champions and East Bay Youth Cricket Association the runner-up.

The success of the PSD tournaments was a perfect way for the kids to say Thank you to Pleasanton, San Ramon, and Dublin City officials, for providing their unconditional support to make the tournament possible.
