Scotland Dominate USA

USA women team

Scotland won their second game of the Women’s World T20 Qualifier – Europe/Americas to put them at the top of the table after the first round of games.

Netherlands and USA share the points as the afternoon game washes out.

After a frustrating start to their campaign, with two consecutive days of no match being possible for the USA team, they finally got started on a sunny morning in Scotland against the hosts.

Winning the toss and choosing to bat, the USA got off to a slow start, scoring just 19 runs in the power play for the loss of 1 wicket. Opening bat Shebani Bhaskar carried the innings for the USA with 51*. Tight bowling spells from Kathryn Bryce (1-19/4) and especially Priyanaz Chatterji (0-9/4) ensured the USA were kept to a chase-able total of 110 for 2.

Scottish opener Lorna Jack (46*) was again instrumental for the Scots. Her opening partnership with Kathryn Bryce (37) set up a comfortable win for the Scots. By the time Bryce fell with the score on 88, the damage was done and the USA bowlers could not prevent a defeat.

Rain settled in during the lunch interval between matches and did not let up until the match had been abandoned without a ball bowled. The first round match between USA and Netherlands therefore ended in no result with both teams taking away 1 point.
