Cricket fans, if you have never seen the legendary Guyana and West Indies batsman, Test batsman Shiv Chanderpaul do his thing on the cricket field, then here is your chance to do so. Shiv is now retired from International cricket, but not from all cricket. He has put together a group of cricketers in Florida and they are playing exhibition matches. They hope to cover as many areas as possible.
On Saturday, August 20, 2016, Shiv and his group of players will be playing a game organized to honor the left-hander himself, at Idlewild Cricket Field, at the back of 223rd Street and147th Avenue, Rosedale, NY. The match starts at 12:00 Noon and admission is free. Come out and see one of the most productive run-getters in the modern cricket era. No need for me to elaborate on his exploits. It you are truly a cricket fan, then the name Shiv Chanderpaul is not new to you.
Shiv is now retired from International cricket, but not by his choice. I will leave the details out. From the matches he has played since forced out of the West Indies team by the Board, it is clear that Shiv still has some years of good cricket in him. He wants to still entertain fans with his God given talents. He is truly an artiste of the game.
The game will be a Twenty20 contest against a strong New York contingent. After the game fans will have the opportunity to socialize and honor the cricketing great at a Dinner and Dance, hosted at Naresa Lounge, 116-14 Rockaway Boulevard, South Ozone Park, NY. Come have a chat and take a picture with the West Indies legend.
This even has been organized by the Friends of Chanderpaul. For more information contact Rudy Persaud at 917-682-6142 or Motie at 718-809-4087.
