The USA Cricket Association today released the names of a squad of 14 players, along with a reserve listing of six additional players identified to represent the USA at the ICC Americas Women’s World Cup Qualifier tournament scheduled for Toronto, Canada from July 11 to 18 this year. The squad includes several players with cricketing experience who participated in last year’s ICC Americas tournament held in Lauderhill, Florida, as well as some newcomers to the sport.
The ICC Americas tournament will feature three 50-overs contests and two T20 matches. However, only the 50-overs matches will be used to determine the series winner.
The 14-woman USA squad named is as follows –
JOAN ALEXANDER-SERRANO

The 20 players identified were selected from the more than 60 women who participated in last weekend’s national championships in Cupertino, California. Details regarding the management personnel of the squad are expected shortly.
The winner of the ICC Americas three-day 50-overs contest will be the regional representative at the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup global qualifying event to be held in 2011, and in preparation for the 2013 Women’s Cricket World Cup in India. In the rare event that the scheduled three-match series ends in a tie, the winner will be decided on the basis of net run-rate.
In addition to the three 50-overs matches scheduled, the teams will also compete in two T20 matches at the end of the qualifying 50-overs tournament. However, the T20 matches are for developmental purposes only and have no bearing on the 2011 global qualifying event.
