Lauderhill, Florida: Get Ready America! Cricket Council USA (CCUSA) and South Florida Cricket Alliance (SFCA) is making cricket history by hosting the 3rd Annual – U.S. Cricket Open which will be held from December 1 – 4, 2011 at the ICC Certified Central Broward Regional Park Cricket Stadium in Lauderhill, the Miramar Regional Park in Miramar and the Brian Piccolo Park in Cooper City.
Much like the “Open” format of major US golf and tennis opens, the US Cricket Open is a fun filled four day extravaganza and is the largest T20 cricket tournament to be played in North America and attendance is FREE to the public for all the games. Attendees will have an opportunity to win a “Smart Car” and/or “150CC Motor Scooter,” at the Championship Match on Sunday afternoon.
A record thirty-two (32) team, an increase from sixteen (16) in 2010, will battle for the “Championship Trophy and $50,000 purse prize.” According to tournament Director Jeff Miller, this year host South Florida Cricket Alliance has received the blessing of the United States of America Cricket Association (USACA) granting permission for the participation of the thirty-two (32) teams from around the US. South Florida cricket fans will be delighted to witness the combination of former international, national and local stars who will be converging in beautiful South Florida to leave their mark in American sports history.
An “Opening Ceremony” and “Reception” will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at 8:30am at the Central Broward Regional Park and the “Championship Trophy Presentation” on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at 5:00pm. The 4-day Cricket Extravaganza will be web casting live with uplinks to the Caribbean, New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
