New York Cricket Academy Sixes

The New York Cricket Academy hosted it inaugural Sixes Tournament on July 4th 2012 at Baisley Pond. Either team contested the knockout format five over affair. The teams were placed in a blind draw with each captain pulling a number to complete the bracket. Following the draw, Americas Cricket Academy (ACA) played New York Centurions, Liberty CC tackled Bulldogs, Cosmos challenged Melbourne and Stallions took on BCANA.
In the opener ACA batted first, with Troy Mars scoring 52 not out after he return at the fall of the first wicket. Captain Akeem Dodson retired scoring 34, as any batsman scoring in excess of 31 was obliged to retired, but could have returned at the fall of a wicket as in the case of Mars. ACA 93/1 of 30 deliveries. Marlon Kallicharan took the only wicket of Andre Kirton. Centurions were restricted to 63 with V. Persaud 20 and Kallicharan 18. Rafique Nazeer had 1 wicket, so too did Mars as he capped of a match winning display, to led ACA to the semifinals.
In game two Bulldogs batting first against Liberty, were restricted to 51/5. A Khan top-scored with 14 as Thakur Singh, Terence Madramootoo, Michael Noble and Trinson Carmichael took a wicket each. Liberty needed as little as 14 balls to get home with Skipper Noble leading the charge with 30 not out. Liberty booking a place in the semis with ACA.
Melbourne took first strike against Cosmos, scoring 62 from their allotted 5 overs. Sumon top scored with 13 as R. Levy and C. Burton had two wickets each. Cosmos were lead by Faisal Taj 26 and Neil Lewis 13 but fell 9 runs short as this closed on 53/3. Sumon with an all rounder performance picking up two wickets to booked a semifinal berth.
Bangladesh Cricket Association North America were restricted to 59/4 as they played Stallions. Jasim bowled his over for 3 runs 1 wicket as did Jazeeb Tariq 1/7. Stallions were comfortable wins losing three wickets, with Zahib Tariq and Abrar Zafar scoring 24 each. Stallions to meet Melbourne, completing the semifinal block.
ACA won the toss against Liberty as they attempted to repeat the free flowing scoring from earlier in the day. Mars 15 and Akeem Dodson 27 kept continued the onslaught. It was the dismissal of Mar which pegged ACA’s later push as Alex Amsterdam bowled the dangerous Andre Kirton before picking up Ahmad Dodson too. Liberty set 68 from 30 balls a long way from the imposing 94 of earlier in the day.
