The Everest Masters will host a touring Australian team from New South Wales on Friday July 24th at 12:30 pm at Idlewyle cricket ground in Rosedale Queens.
The 40-man NSW touring party has been spanning North America on their historic tour. They were up against a team in Niagara Falls and Boston last weekend and will arrive in New York City on Wednesday for their next test against an Everest Masters team.
The Australians have had a long history of touring and playing cricket in the United States that dated back to the mid 1800, and have given a good account of themselves. The Australians XI would take on as many as 18 players on the opposition. The opponents in the early days were against the Gentlemen of Philadelphia and the St Georges CC in New York City. The games were played on turf wickets and manicured outfields, but in this 20th century the matting wickets may give the New York team the edge. We will see on Friday if this New South Wales contingent can mirror the achievements of the men of the Golden years in this new century.
Everest Masters welcome the New South Wales team to New York and wish them an enjoyable and successful tour in North America.
